The Africa Diabetes Congress is a framework and platform for the dissemination of the results of diabetes research in Africa and among African populations worldwide. We aimed at creating an even that allies scientific and medical excellence, originality and fellowship from and within Africa for the global scientific community. The main theme of this year’s conference; Shaping the future of diabetes care in Africa, reflects the vision of promotion of international standard diabetes research in Africa. The Scientific programme included 2 outstanding opening lectures from outstanding leading experts, 21 symposia and plenary sessions, six CMEs, one special symposium on insulin programmes in Africa, nine corporate symposia and one Award lecture session featuring the recipient of the Sir George Alberti Award.
